The 2026 2nd International Conference on Power Electronics Technology and Grid Systems (PETGS 2026) will be held on January 9-11, 2026 in Hangzhou, China.
Hangzhou, abbreviated as “Hang” and known as Lin'an, Qiantang and Wulin in ancient times, is a prefecture-level city, provincial capital, sub-provincial city and mega-city under the jurisdiction of Zhejiang Province, located in the northern part of Zhejiang Province and downstream of the Qiantang River, and is a city in the central area of the Yangtze River Delta as well as the center of global finance and technology.
Hangzhou has a subtropical monsoon climate, with four distinct seasons, abundant light and rainfall, short spring and fall, and long winter and summer; the terrain of the city boundary gradually decreases from west to east, with a combination of low hills, river basins, and piled-up plains. After the unification of the six kingdoms of Qin, a county was set up at the foot of Lingyin Mountain, called Qiantang.In 589, Qiantang County was abolished and Hangzhou was set up, the name of Hangzhou appeared in history for the first time.In 1912, the former Qiantang and Renhe counties were merged to set up Hangzhou County.In 1927, the urban area of Hangzhou County was divided into several places and Hangzhou City was set up.
Hangzhou is an important central city in eastern China, a national historical and cultural city, an international comprehensive transportation hub city, a national digital economy innovation center and a regional science and technology innovation highland, an advanced manufacturing base, an eastern modern service center, and an international tourist destination, as determined by the State Council. Hangzhou is known as “Paradise on Earth” because of its beautiful scenery, represented by the West Lake Culture, Qiantang River Culture and Canal Culture.
Excavations at the site of the Cross Lake Bridge in Hangzhou have shown that humans flourished there more than 8,000 years ago. The Liangzhu culture, more than 5,000 years ago, has been called the “dawn of Chinese civilization”. Hangzhou is an important birthplace of Chinese civilization, known as the “famous county in the southeast”, and was the capital of the Wu-Yue State in the Five Dynasties and the Southern Song Dynasty for two generations.
